Resolution or Disillusion?

Get Organized Challenge #1: Set Yourself Up For Success

Happy New Year 2019! My resolution for this year is to ‘organize’ my crafty space. I wonder just how many of my fellow crafters have vowed to achieve this same goal. I’ve attempted this particular goal for the past 8 years now. I have participated in different online organization challenge groups along the way and I have made some progress, but just when I start seeing the light, then….LIFE HAPPENS. I’m sure many of you can claim the same!

This year is going to be different! Yes, I’m sure you’ve said that too. For me, sharing this goal for all to see is one way to keep myself accountable. If I set myself a reasonable goal and share my progress, then I can see myself succeeding.

What Are My Obstacles?

Well, I have a healthy crafting stash and minimal space to store it all. I have an 8 x 10 space with a walk-in closet. I have my precious stash in boxes, buckets, bags, cabinets and stacks. EVERYWHERE!

What’s The Plan?

First of all, I will participate in the 2019 Get Organized Challenge hosted by Totally-Tiffany. Many participants have gone through the challenge multiple times until they were able to get through their inventory.
This is definitely not my first time going through it. I feel it will take me at least two full rounds to get through what I have, so that means by the end of 2019, I should be organized!

  • Challenge 1: Set Yourself Up for Success
  • Challenge 2: Paper Organization
  • Challenge 3: Photo Organization
  • Challenge 4: Embellishment Organization
  • Challenge 5: Tool Organization
  • Challenge 6: Color Organization
  • Challenge 7: Memento Organization & Project Planning
  • Challenge 8: Travel Organization

Where Do I Start?

I managed to stack supplies around the room and even outside the room so I can see everything or at least dig for it. I received some IKEA furniture for Christmas and it is now assembled and in its place. It’s now a matter of sorting through everything, getting it all separated into categories and stored either in the SCRAP RACK or in designated locations throughout the space.

What’s Next?

Between now and Day 1 of the Challenge, January 22nd, I will make sure my craft desk is centered in this room and I will be able to walk in and SIT. This should allow me to work in my space and determine where things should go and be accessible.
